Langfontein, situated 50km from Graaff-Reinet, is an oasis in the Karoo surrounded by mountains and picturesque scenery, infused with silence and old-world charm. The manor house was built in 1860 by the former president of the ZAR, Jacobus Burgers. A wagon-load of yellowwood from the Knysna forest, at the cost of R250 pounds, was used for the floors and ceilings of this stately Karoo home.
Farm buildings have been carefully restored to their former glory capturing the atmosphere of a bygone era with al the necessary luxuries to ensure a comfortable stay. Cottages are individually decorated, kitchens are fully equipped, spacious bedrooms have crisp, white percale linen to ensure a good sleep in the clean Karoo air. The area is completely malaria-free and boasts sheep, cattle and the breeding of game-like disease-free buffalo, sables and roan antelope.
All accommodation is private, safe and secure and serviced daily except on Sundays. Accommodation is self-catering and includes braai facilities. Hot water bottles available for the chilly winter months.
