WHERE HEAVEN MEETS THE EARTH
Perfect for guests looking for tranquil, comfortable and scenic lodging, away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Take a deep breath and relax or enjoy just a few of our activities.
Swimming – In the Trout Dam about 100m to the west of the Log Cabin or in the Swimming Hole in the River about 800m to the west of the Log Cabin – tea-coloured river water but refreshing!
Trout Fishing – In the Trout Dam about 100m to the West of the Log Cabin or in the Oak Tree dam on the Southside of the river, about 600m to the West of the Log Cabin. Both are offered only on a Catch and Release basis, using non-barbed flies.
Mountain biking – There are lots of quiet dirt roads open to the public, as well as a developing network of single-tracks over private land. Enquire from De Postkantoor café in Tesselaarsdal. (Tel: Sonia on 084-583-7095). The Café is also a great place to stop for breakfast, lunch or a good coffee.
Walking and hiking – There are lots of paths on Heilfontein Farm for you to use. (Ask us for a copy of the farm map). If you want to access our neighbors’ land (and that includes the mountain) please speak to us in advance and we can usually arrange it. You can walk over the mountains to Stanford (2.5 hrs). Kleinrivier Cheese for a picnic (2hrs) and Raka Winery (4 hrs) but it is wise to arrange a lift back. A safe start to walk to De Postkantoor Café (40min) for breakfast or lunch.
