Glen Oakes Farm is a 300-hectare farm owned by Jules and Charles Crowther, in the Hemel en Aarde Valley, between Hermanus and Caledon.

HOME OF PASTURE PIGS

The farm primarily farms livestock on pasture and is a registered Braunvieh Cattle Stud. The farm is also well known for its pasture reared pigs, who are amazingly clean and very smart! No flies, smell or dirt amongst these happy munchers of acorns, roots and grubs.

We stayed in the Stone cottage, which is fully equipped with a large fireplace, in amongst the fynbos. The cottage is private, has beautiful views and includes a gorgeous rock pool. Other accommodation is the wood cabin and a campsite.

Glen Oakes is truly a retreat, where birdsong accompanies visitors. Only an hour from Cape Town and you enter a different world – well worth a visit.
