Life slows down as you turn onto Highway West, a country road, leading you to Fernhill Guest Farm, which is situated just outside Knysna in the beautiful area of Rheenendal. This area is known for its magical ancient forests, cycling and hiking trails, and cute eateries like the Famous Tottie’s Farm Kitchen, where every meal is an occasion.
Fernhill is a mere 15 minute drive to Knysna and the beautiful beach at Buffalo Bay, while only being 20 minutes away from Sedgefield, with its ever popular Saturday Wild Oats Market, so you will be spoiled for choice when looking for places to visit.
The 4 self-catering Farm Cottages overlooking the farm camps where farm animals peacefully graze, creating the perfect setting to slow down and enjoy a lingering braai with friends and family. The cottages can accommodate up to 6 guests and contain 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The living area has a sleeper couch for accommodating a fifth or sixth guest and the kitchens are well-equipped for self-catering. There is an inside log burning fireplace to keep you warm on the colder winter nights and the most wonderful shady stoep with built-in braai for those balmy summer nights. The uninterrupted view of the sunrise will make it worth your while to wake up early, sit out on the stoep and greet the day with a steaming cup of coffee, while watching the sun spread its golden rays over the farmlands, while listening to the sounds of nature around you.
For those who enjoy walks, there are many beautiful trails on the 56-hectare farm and you are welcome to bring your dogs, at a nominal fee, as the fully fenced cottages are pet friendly. This area is also very popular with mountain bikers, so bring your bicycle and explore this region that forms part of the 7 Passes Route between Knysna and George. We are situated in a conservancy, so in addition to the farm animals, there is a lot of free roaming wildlife including bushbuck, bush pigs, leopard, monkeys, baboons, porcupines and a large variety of birds, so don’t forget the binoculars.
Escape to the country and enjoy this piece of paradise with us.
